Martial arts gyms are not all created equal, and this is especially the case when it comes to kids’ classes. Kids today need role models and incentives which let them know every step of the way that they are on the correct path. Often a child might not see the reasons for working hard in school or doing their chores for example. They also may not yet have the life experience to realize that true achievement requires sacrifice. Precision MMA in the Hudson Valley has a kids’ martial arts program which takes all these factors into account and prides itself on creating young martial artists who are not only skilled in the styles we teach, but who are also on their way to becoming well rounded adults and contributing members of society.

Precision Mixed Martial Arts Kid’s Program in the Hudson Valley area of New York teaches a number of different styles to both children and adults, ranging from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling to Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing and Muay Thai Kickboxing. However, our kids’ classes stand out from any others in the area, even those which might teach the same styles, in that ours promote focus and discipline in the child’s life outside of the atmosphere of the dojo. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in particular, kids tend to want very badly to be promoted to their next belt and are always eager to impress their instructor. While other martial arts’ schools might award the child with a belt simply for being ready in terms of their skill set in Jiu-Jitsu, at Hudson Valley’s  Kids Martial Arts at Precision’s belts are only awarded to a child under a number of conditions. First of all, the child must have at least a B-average in school, and he must prove this to the head instructor by showing him his latest report card. While some might feel this to be a strict condition for promotion, we have seen it have outstanding results. Let’s face it, kids often do not enjoy school and often see no reason for doing their homework. They are told that good grades are important, but they need positive reinforcement when they get good grades, rather than punishment, in order to truly see the reason for their studying. When a child achieves a new belt which he knows he has earned by both being a good student in school and a good martial arts’ student, he feels that all his studying has been worthwhile and becomes eager to continue working hard in school to get his next belt.

Another condition for belt promotion at Precision Mixed Martial Arts in the Hudson Valley is that the child is doing their chores at home and learning the value of being a contributing member of their family. Most often children are not all that eager to do their chores and just like with their grades in school it is essential that the child have strong incentives to do those things at home which might seem boring or unimportant to them. Since belt promotion at Precision is also conditional upon the parent’s consent that the child is doing his daily chores , each time the child earns a new belt he is not only making himself happy by improving his Jiu-Jitsu skills, he is also making his parents happy by lending them a hand around the house.

Finally, perhaps the most important requirement for belt promotion in the kids’ Jiu-Jitsu classes is that they perform some sort of community service, such as giving food to the homeless or working at a dog shelter for example. Over time, this requirement makes the child a contributing member of society and enables them to see the bigger picture and realize that their good actions have a tangible effect upon others outside their immediate friends and family. As a whole, the belt requirements at Precision Mixed Martial Arts in the Hudson Valley make disciplined adults out of children one belt at a time. Through the combination of community service, reinforced studying in school, helping with chores around the house and working on their Jiu-Jitsu techniques, the children in our kids’ classes become not only great martial artists, but better students, more attentive sons and daughters and more helpful members of society. With each belt they achieve they will see themselves improving, not only on the mat, but in life as a whole. As a parent you’d be doing your child a great service to enroll him or her at Precision MMA’s Hudson Valley Kid’s Martial Arts Program.

Lagrange Family Martial Arts has children’s classes seven days a week.  Every student is given a chance to excel in the martial arts with the qualified instructors that will give your children the one-on-one attention necessary for learning.  The kid’s program will instill and nurture important values in your child such as being goal oriented, maintaining high levels of physical fitness, discipline, determination, focus and respect for authority.  These essential lessons can be learned by a child while their parents are also going on their own martial arts journey.  This shared experience will deepen the impact and really reenforce the importance of what the children are learning.

Time spent around caring and mindful adults is one of the most important influences in a child’s socialization and development. Children who lack proper supervision are far more likely to get into trouble and have similar problems as an adult. Many experts point to lack of proper adult supervision as the number one predictor of juvenile delinquency.  Children cannot be expected to make wise or informed decisions, but the habits they form as children will follow them into their adult years.  If a child looks to deviant peer groups or negative role models, their already shortsighted decision-making can become simply scary. People talk about role models and how hard it can be to find a positive one.  Reliance on some distant and aloof sports star or paparazzi-hounded pop singer as a role model leaves to much to chance.  A child must often be shown the right path, at least initially, and can’t be expected to know who will fail them and who will be a positive influence in their life.  Children should ideally be looking to their parents and teachers as the real role models.  The hectic schedule of a modern family can leave little time for the strengthening of these important societal bonds.  Time must be set aside to forge these essential Familial links.

Lagrange Family Martial Arts provides a setting that can have your child consistently engaged in positive activities under the tutelage of knowledgeable and caring instructors.  Instead of spending their free time playing video games, hanging out or surfing the internet, they will be in an environment that encourages good citizenship and reenforces the kind of constructive socialization that is necessary for a happy and successful adult life.  Lagrange Family Martial Arts will be a place that your child can attend regularly and with enthusiasm.

Bullying and the consequences of bullying are detrimental to the mental and even physical health of a child.  Bullying and it’s effects have come under immense scrutiny.   As more and more studies are released the grim consequences of bullying are becoming more and more apparent.  Schools and parents are looking for new ways to combat bullying.  Lagrange Martial Arts will help on two fronts.  The training will make your child more assertive and confident.  Lagrange Martial Arts provides a place where your child can feel safe and secure and learn under instructors that are aware of the dangers of bullying.  This new found confidence will make your child an unlikely target for a bully.

The second way Lagrange Martial Arts will help your child fight off bullying is through learning self-defense techniques that work against any bully.  It is unfortunate that a child should have to defend themselves against anyone, let alone another child.  Many schools have not responded to this crisis swiftly enough or with enough resources.  The parents of a bully are often turning a blind eye to their child’s disturbing behavior and will insist it is “just a phase” or that it is “boys being boys.  These cliches are frustrating and archaic, but they can have very real consequences for children growing up in these environment.   If your child is forced into this situation Lagrange Martial Arts will prepare them for the confrontation.  Lagrange Martial Arts offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the only martial art designed to help a smaller or weaker person against a larger and stronger aggressor.  Your child will be able to defend themselves without having to resort to injuring the bully.  Your child will be able to put a definitive end to the bullying without coming to harm or letting the bully come to serious harm.

Bullying can become a thing of the past for your child.  Give us call at 845-392-8495, email us at precisionmma@gmail.com or go to http://www.lagrangemartialarts.com/.

Are you a parent concerned with your child’s well being?  Many parents are and some of them look to sports to give their child valuable life lessons.  Traditional sports however want certain things and there is not a lot of room for negotiation.  A premium is placed on children who can come in and be great with minimal coaching.  The bigger and faster kids get on the team,  the less athletically gifted kids are left behind.   The incredibly enriching and memorable chance to play a sport and be on a team are denied to many kids.  So the Dilemma is clear, so what is the Solution?  Poughkeepsie Martial Arts School For Children is the place to go for children who need the experience of athletics but will not fit in at the more traditional sports settings.

Poughkeepsie Martial Arts School for Children provides a great place of kids to learn and develop.  Some children lag behind and aren’t getting the essential life lessons they need to be successful.  They lack confidence, goal oriented behavior, maturity and discipline.  Playing a sport and being on a team would be an immense benefit for these children.  Poughkeepsie Martial Arts School For Children is the solution.  We offer classes that are designed to help your child improve in many vital ways.  The goal setting behavior is inherent in training at Poughkeepsie Martial Arts School for Children.  The class is structured around advancing and learning new techniques that will keep your child engaged and focused.  The confidence and behavior changing that they learn starts with the very first class.
